Magdalena Ball and I worked on this multimedia poem over a year ago to enter it in a competition where it would be part of a big medical symposium in London and Australia. It didn’t win, but we persevered and it’s just been published on Verity La.<\/p>\n

Blood Oath<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I want red on my lips<\/p>\n

maroon, black, boiling<\/p>\n

at this range of cold<\/p>\n

only the full mammalian will do<\/p>\n

structures of subordination inflame<\/p>\n

the blood vessels<\/p>\n

destroying my haemoglobin<\/p>\n

blood everywhere and not enough<\/p>\n

this tender body trying, failing<\/p>\n

self-perpetuating<\/p>\n

the protective instinct gone haywire.<\/p>\n

Blood wages war with itself,<\/p>\n

blood blinds, the burden of blood<\/p>\n

finding the wrong\/right blood type<\/p>\n

at the point of transfusion<\/p>\n

the place or point of origin\u00a0\u00a0 from which<\/p>\n

towards which<\/p>\n

the matrix \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0in motion.<\/p>\n

the underground<\/p>\n

all tube stations connecting in a loop<\/p>\n

going with the flow<\/p>\n

passing through all stops not stopping<\/p>\n

collecting passengers\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 and dropping<\/p>\n

(the inspired and expired)<\/p>\n

most liquid of connective tissues<\/p>\n

resealing leaks\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 tracks of iron<\/p>\n

simultaneous wave and particle<\/p>\n
