\"\"<\/a>Back in the execrable era of Howard and Ruddock I wrote a poem named\u00a0A Villanelle on Certain Provisions in Relation to a Bill concerning Anti-Terrorism<\/em>. It’s being resurrected for a poeticA program<\/a> (ABC Radio National\u00a0May 11th at 3pm repeat following Thursday at 9pm) focussing on the resurgence of the villanelle in contemporary Australian poetry. It’s also available as a podcast HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A Villanelle on Certain Provisions in Relation <\/strong><\/p>\n

to a Bill concerning Anti-Terrorism <\/strong><\/p>\n

This legislation I most heartily endorse<\/p>\n

Certain Persons are a risk to our Community.<\/p>\n

These matters would be considered in due course..<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Asylum seekers must be stemmed at Source<\/p>\n

While other options there may well be<\/p>\n

This legislation I most heartily endorse<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The only point I\u2019d make is\u2026\u00a0 Force<\/p>\n

Is always justified for Border Security.<\/p>\n

These matters would be considered in due course\u2026<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We are obliged to examine each legal resource<\/p>\n

In regard to this, it seems to me<\/p>\n

This legislation I most heartily endorse<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I\u2019ve repeated this on occasion till I\u2019m hoarse<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not a matter I can discuss publicly.<\/p>\n

These matters would be considered in due course\u2026<\/p>\n

This is not a matter for feelings of remorse<\/p>\n

The appropriate committee will put its position undoubtedly.<\/p>\n
