It became <em>to not wheeze gentle<\/em> and was published in <em><strong>phobiaphobia<\/strong><\/em> (Picaro Press, 2007.)<\/p>\n<p>After uploading an audio version to ccMixter, <a href=\"http:\/\/ccmixter.org\/people\/speck\/profile\">speck<\/a> made it even more surreal by using a 1970s phonorgan. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.robwalkerpoet.com\/?p=451\">MORE&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>to wheeze, not gentle<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>to not wheeze gentle<\/p>\n<p>shuddering like hairs of a broken moon<\/p>\n<p>and not patter like leafless winds<\/p>\n<p>or not whine gentle<\/p>\n<p>the melody of sprouting tongue<\/p>\n<p>whispers like plaintive mud<\/p>\n<p>the thirsty cough of a seagull<\/p>\n<p>dry splashes of words reciting fountains<\/p>\n<p>and not crack gentle<\/p>\n<p>the watchful rustle<\/p>\n<p>and wails like smog<\/p>\n<p>words in a halo<\/p>\n<p>my throat screeches halt<\/p>\n<p>like you<\/p>\n<p>my funeral<\/p>\n<p>\u00a9 rob walker, phobiaphobia, 2007<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I created &#8220;to wheeze, not gentle&#8221; (possibly an homage \/ rip-off?) of Dylan Thomas&#8217; &#8220;Do not go gentle into that dark night&#8221;, probably the world&#8217;s best-known villanelle.
